Ghanaian highlife musician Arathejay has released his new album, “Finding Nimo: The Capsule,” emphasizing his identity as a spiritual artiste.
In a recent interview on TV3, the “Sankofa” hitmaker shared his thoughts on his musical journey and inspiration.
When asked if he considers himself a highlife or afrobeat artiste, Arathejay confidently responded, “I am a spiritual artiste.”
He explained that his music is deeply inspired by the Ghanaian highlife genre and urged fellow artistes to honour and elevate highlife music.
“I believe aside from knowing that I’m doing it for a purpose, it is much appreciated by everyone when it’s purposeful. My inspiration comes from highlife. I believe highlife is our genre, and we have to uphold it,” he stated.
Arathejay also discussed the success of his hit song “Sankofa,” which features a remix by King Promise. “My biggest song was ‘Sankofa.’ By God’s grace, King Promise did a remix, and it made it to the Afrobeats chart in the UK,” he recounted.
Currently, Arathejay is promoting “Finding Nimo: The Capsule,” the first chapter in his “Finding Nimo” series.
The album features top-notch production from DJ Breezy, Signal (Nigeria), RankingMadeIt, JoeyOntheTrack, Nvrhcos, Afrolektra, and BillyDray. The mixing and mastering were expertly handled by RankingMadeIt and 7th Romahn.
