Keta Anlo State School, located in Keta in the Volta Region of Ghana, was founded in January 1935 to provide formal education to the children of the Anlo area and the surrounding communities. It is celebrating 90 years of educating and training young minds.

The Headmaster, Vincent Yao Amegbletor, an alumnus of the school, along with the staff, past students, and the anniversary planning committee, have been actively promoting the 90th-anniversary celebration. They are using this occasion to appeal for funds to complete several school building projects that have been abandoned for over 20 years due to financial constraints.

Reflecting on school life and its rivalry with other basic schools in the area, some alumni recounted the annual competition among students and teachers to achieve top grades in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Keta Anlo State School was also one of the schools to supply candidates for the first-ever National Junior Secondary School (JSS) Quiz Competition held in 1995/1996.

The school has consistently pursued educational excellence, participating in various notable competitions and performing admirably.

As part of the 90th-anniversary celebrations, the management, led by Mr. Vincent Yao Amegbletor and the Anniversary Planning Committee, hopes to secure support from alumni, philanthropists, and benevolent individuals to complete the long-stalled projects to enhance teaching and learning.

During the colonial era, Keta Anlo State School, like many schools in Ghana, was influenced by British educational policies and curricula, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and moral instruction. After Ghana gained independence in 1957, the school underwent changes to align with the new national educational goals, emphasising national identity, cultural heritage, and a more diverse curriculum.

The Keta Anlo State School has produced many notable alumni who have made significant contributions to various sectors in Ghana, including education, politics, and business. For example, Dr. Olympio Kodzo Attipoe, an economist and tax expert, is currently the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) in Sudan and has been working as an International Tax Consultant at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH since 2022. His Eminence Togbi Albert Francis Seth Nyonyo, a member of the Council of State at the Presidency in Ghana, also an industrialist and philanthropist, and Mr. Ivan Quashigah, founder and CEO of Farmhouse Productions, known for producing the television series “Things We Do for Love” and “YOLO.”
