Former Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan has embarked on a remarkable initiative to unearth and discover talents across all 16 regions of Ghana with a sporting event dubbed the “All Regional Games”, which will commence in November 2024.
The team led by Asamoah Gyan held a press conference on Tuesday, April 9th, to outline plans for the big games in November. With this being the first of its kind in Ghana, athletes are urged and expected to take part in this big inaugural event to boost their careers as sportsmen and women moving forward.
The competition will welcome some sporting disciplines like football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, e-sports, and arm wrestling, with the inclusion of para-athletes.
Awareness creation concerning this big event will start on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, with a tour across all 16 regions in Ghana to keep everyone up to speed with this life-changing experience, especially for young athletes.
“Let’s make all regional games successful. Let’s make it an institute; let’s make it something that our next generation will benefit from. We want to make sure that all sports disciplines can also benefit. So, in the future, when we go to the Olympic Games, it won’t depend only on football,” said Asamoah Gyan.
A trial will be held in every region from June to identify top sportsmen and women within the ages of 18 to 23 who will be tipped to compete for their respective regions in the All Regional Games slated to take place in November 2024.
