We have everything under control – GHS assures public over Monkeypox, Marburg virus outbreak

The Ghana Health Service, GHS, says the country’s current Public Health system is strained with several public health emergencies. These include Covid-19, Monkeypox, Marburg, Measles, Yellow Fever among others.

For the Monkey pox disease, 50 percent of cases, according to the Service, are in the capital.

The GHS said the risk of widespread Monkey pox cases exists but does not pose a major threat. It said the ‘Marburg virus’ spread is also prevalent but very low.

Despite the challenges these diseases pose, the Service says it has everything under control as various containment measures and national response plan are in place to avert any widespread outbreak.

Driector General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye also gave the latest on Ghana’s Covid situation.

He said the current wave of COVID-19 infections has seen a downward trend in the last few weeks.

COVID-19 cases among international arrivals are also very low.
