Nigerian music Star, Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has refuted allegations linking him to the untimely demise of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Naira Marley took to his Instagram account to clarify his stance and express his intention to return to Nigeria to cooperate with ongoing investigations surrounding Mohbad’s death.

The tragic loss of Mohbad occurred on September 12, 2023, and he was laid to rest the following day in accordance with Yoruba customs in Ikorodu, Lagos.

In the wake of Mohbad’s passing, Naira Marley faced accusations and calls for his arrest.

However, he vehemently denied any involvement in the tragic incident. Naira Marley acknowledged that, like in any profession, there were disagreements during their working relationship.

He emphasized that they were in the process of legally resolving these disputes when the unfortunate incident occurred.

“I would like to clearly state that I have never fought or attacked Mohbad. For the avoidance of doubt, I have never instructed anyone, friend, known associates or fans to attack, bully or harass Mohbad. With regard to the talent on the label, none of our artists ever fought or mistreated Mohbad.

”Permit me to categorically state that I have no hand in the death of llerioluwa, either directly or indirectly. It is not unusual in the industry, just like in several other industries, to have family friction, even amongst blood relatives.

“I am certain that the culprit behind his death has a vendetta against me and is fueling public opinions to have me lynched for reasons known to them. In due time, the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death will be unveiled and the world will know the truth.

Addressing rumours about Marlian Music being involved in illicit activities, Naira Marley firmly denied any involvement in drug-related activities or affiliation with cults or fraternities. He portrayed Marlian Music as a legitimate and independent label dedicated to nurturing exceptional talent.

“The rumours regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue. I am not a drug lord, neither do I Marley belong to any cult or fraternity. I’m dedicated to proving my innocence and I’m cooperating with the authorities to clear my name with sufficient evidence.

“Marlian Music is an independent label run by a small intimate team. We run a legitimate label that focuses on championing exceptional talent, breaking new acts and nurturing them.”

He added that his lawyers have been in contact with law enforcement agencies and are prepared to assist in every way necessary.
