Camidoh, the talented singer behind the chart-topping hit “Sugarcane,” has secured his first-ever BET Awards nomination.
The Ghanaian music sensation has been nominated in the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act category.
The prestigious BET Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place later this year.
The exhilarating news was announced via BET UK’s official Twitter account on June 8, with a resounding congratulations to Camidoh and all the fellow nominees in this fiercely competitive category.
Camidoh, whose real name is Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie, faces stiff competition from an impressive array of international artistes, including Werenoi from France, FLO from the UK, Libianca from Cameroon, Raye from the UK, Maureen from France, MC Ryan SP from Brazil, Paris Cooper from South Africa, and Nigeria’s very own Asake.
Expressing his excitement, Camidoh took to social media to confirm his nomination and urged his devoted fans to vote for him wholeheartedly in the Viewer’s Choice: Best International Act category.
Camidoh’s First BET Awards Nomination
This milestone places Camidoh alongside an esteemed group of Ghanaian musicians who have previously clinched BET Awards or nominations. The distinguished list includes the likes of Kojo Antwi, D Black, Sarkodie, R2bees, Stonebwoy, Fuse ODG, MzVee, Kwesi Arthur, and Black Sherif.
While Camidoh gained significant attention for his heartfelt tracks like “For My Lover,” “Available,” and the catchy “Kaba,” it was the international remix of “Sugarcane” featuring Mayorkun and Darkoo that propelled him into the global spotlight in 2022, elevating his name to new heights.
The BET Awards, established by the Black Entertainment Television network in 2001, has become a paramount event honoring black entertainers and other minorities in the realms of music, film, sports, and philanthropy. Each year, it unites and celebrates exceptional talents from around the world, and now Camidoh proudly takes his place among these esteemed artistes.
