The Daily Graphic writes on the need to save the country’s water resources especially the Owabi Dam. The Paper thinks the country must not wait any longer but take action to save the dam. It says it has taken the authorities, especially, the Water Resources Commission, too long to declare the catchment areas of the dam, prohibited to secure that important water resource. It says staff of the Forestry Commission must be augmented to be able to patrol and protect the dam. The paper cites other water resources like the Barekese also in the region, and Weija Dam, in the Greater Accra Region, which it says are facing encroachment challenges. The Paper calls on National Security, Asanteman Council, Ashanti Regional Security Council, the Forestry Commission, and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, to team up to save the Owabi Dam and others to forestall any national crisis.
