Champions of the African Beach Soccer Club, Keta Sunset Sports will compete in this year’s Beach Soccer Worldwide’s (BSWW) World Winners Cup in Spain.

This follows discussions between the Volta-based club and the FIFA accredited body.

According to the Chairman of the Ghana Beach Soccer Clubs, Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, the three-time Ghanaian club champions have received notification of the event scheduled for April in Fuerteventura, Spain.

“So far the correspondence between the organizers (Beach Soccer WorldWide (BSWW) and Keta Sunset Sports has been extremely positive,” Mr. Ankrah noted.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club, Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe has also confirmed his club’s interest in the World Winners Cup.

He said “It’s been in our plans to play at the world winners cup right after we won the African Club Challenge,” an important feat the club highly anticipates on the FIFA world rankings.

“It’s been in our plans to play at the world winners cup right after we won the African Club Challenge in Lagos. It’s just right that we test our strength against the big boys after dominating in Ghana and conquering Africa. It’s also important because playing on the stage will get us on the FIFA world rankings,” Mr. Adjahoe noted.

“It’s a big tournament and a lot of finances is needed to participate. We are seriously considering it so we will get to work and seek all the support we can get from corporate Ghana and our people from Keta and the Volta Region,” Mr. Adjahoe added.

Keta Sunset Sports is Ghana’s most successful Beach Soccer Club having won the Ghanaian championship three times in four seasons.

The Keta-based club is the titleholder of the biggest African Beach Soccer Club tournament, Copa Lagos which was held in 2019 in Lagos, Nigeria.
