The Ghanaian Times lauds the decision by the Ghanaian Health authorities to agree to the trial of the new “Sputnik Light” vaccine in the country from June 28 to January next year. According to the paper, the vaccine is expected to be tested on one thousand community members from the Shai OsuDoku and Ningo Prampram Municipalities in Greater Accra as well as the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region. With the goal of the trial being to assess the safety, efficacy, tolerability and immunogenicity of the vaccine against disease, the TIMES is hopeful the results would match the positive ones seen in other countries. Again, the paper is optimistic that the single-dose, “Sputnik Light” would eliminate the anxiety associated with the single-dose vaccines, especially in Ghana, where access to second dose is problematic.
The Daily Graphic commends efforts by the Northern Development Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and other relevant agencies in the tourism sector in rolling out a document to help develop a comprehensive tourism sector for northern Ghana. It says these are impressive initiatives which with commitment and diligent pursuit, will ensure that all development agenda including the tourism sector will be achieved on time for the good of the people not only of Bono East and northern Ghana but the entire country. The Graphic says what is required at this stage is the development of an action plan with timelines, deliverables and targets with key performance indicators that will trickle down to benefit the people. The paper says the development and roll out of the five-year strategic tourism document for the northern sector must give hope to the people and help deepen engagements to rope all into the tourism development drive or agenda.
