The People’s National Party (PNP) has expressed concern over the pervasive issue of examination malpractices in the Basic Certificate Examinations, which begin today, Monday, July 8.

In a statement signed by National Chairperson and Leader Janet Asana Nabla, the party urged stakeholders to take immediate action to safeguard the integrity of the education system.

“As our students prepare to write their exams, we wish them the best of luck. However, we are deeply concerned about the alarming rate of examination malpractices, which expose our children to unethical practices,” the statement said.

The PNP called on the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ministry of Interior, the media, and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection to take decisive action to prevent cheating and ensure a fair environment for all students.

“We must create a safe and fair environment for our young learners, where merit and effort are duly rewarded. It is our collective responsibility to foster a culture of integrity that will benefit not only our students but the entire nation,” the statement emphasized.

The party promised to implement stringent measures to end examination malpractices if elected into power, including:

Using surveillance technologies in all examination centers, revising examination protocols, promoting ethical education programs, collaborating with law enforcement agencies and the media to enforce anti-cheating law, launching public awareness campaigns to highlight the detrimental effects of examination malpractices

Wishing the students good luck, the PNP leader said, “We believe in you and your hard work. Together, let us commit to protecting our children and ensuring they grow up in a society that upholds the highest ethical standards.”
