Young Sharks beach soccer club defeated Sea Lions 2-1 to be crowned champions of the Carl Bank Beach Soccer Super Cup in Abuesi in the Shama Constituency of the Western region on Sunday.
The tournament which featured four clubs including Shama Beach soccer club and Nungua Beach soccer attracted a lot of fans cheering their respective teams to victory.
Sea Lions who were tagged as the favourite to win the ultimate drew first blood through Alexander Adjei but Young Sharks came from behind with two quick goals to win the tournament.
Beach Soccer has been in hibernation for a while but got revived through the efforts of the headline sponsor with a zonal competition serving as the qualification for the final of the 4 team event.
“It’s been successful after expanding relocating from Accra to Western region with this tournament enveloping teams from Volta, Central, Greater Accra and Western regions. We are expecting to see more games when the league resumes”.

The biggest achievement in today’s event is the involvement of the local people and with this we can appreciate beach soccer as one of the lesser known sports with a lot of potentials”. Apart from clinching the glittering trophy at stake with a cash prize of Three thousand cedis (GHS3,000) as winners, Sea Lions were also rewarded with an amount of Two thousand cedis (2,000) as runners up.
The captain of Sea Lions Alexander Adjei who was the toast of the tournament also received Two hundred cedis (GHC200) for emerging as a top scorer with eight (8) goals.
