Independent presidential candidate Dr. Sam Ankrah has announced that his government will comprise only 20 ministers.
In an interview on GTV’s breakfast show on July 22, 2024, This decision, he explained, is aimed at ensuring that District Chief Executives (DCEs) are elected in their constituencies, allowing for grassroots-driven policies that benefit local communities. “Every district has its unique strengths and resources,” Dr. Ankrah emphasized.
“Let’s harness these resources, allow districts to retain their taxes, and develop their areas. This will prevent the current centralized system where only Accra and Kumasi benefit, leaving the rest of the nation behind.”
Dr. Ankrah stressed that politics should improve people’s livelihoods. He urged citizens to reflect on their personal experiences with politics, asking, “What has politics done for you? Has your situation changed for the better or worsened?”
He advocated for a change in the political course, criticizing the current system where politicians invest in elections only to share the spoils.
Dr. Ankrah, an investment banker, global business strategist, and development economist with over 20 years of experience, is poised to bring a fresh approach to leadership.
