The Ghanaian Times says Census Night is a reference point for census enumeration since it is said to be necessary for telling a complete and accurate story about the population of Ghana. The Paper commends the Government for providing a whooping 521.3m Ghana cedis for the exercise. The Ghanaian Times appeals to everyone within the borders to get counted. It says even though the Ghana Statistical Service intends not to leave anyone out, it can only do so when everyone makes him or herself available to be counted. The paper urges the enumerators to endeavour to be in their nose masks so that they do not contract Covid 19 in their line of duty.

The Daily Graphic urges citizens to co-operate with enumerators of the Population and Housing Census who will be in reflective attire, by providing the requisite information desired to help in the national development effort. It says providing accurate information, for instance on employment or job status, will help government and policy makers appreciate the level of skills level the country has and the unemployment rate and feed that into planning for job creation. The paper believes that providing accurate information will also help government appreciate the housing deficit in the country. Thus without accurate information governments will always be planning in a vacuum or doing guesswork, which will not inure to the overall development agenda. It is the conviction of the paper that no matter the people’s differences, be it political, ethnic or religious, the national interest must supersede all.
