Executive Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has finally drawn the curtain on her 10-day Cook-A-Thon marathon, though it was a desire to continue.
She officially stopped at exactly 11:12 a.m., clocking 227 hours, to set an unbreakable record for the longest cooking marathon in the Guinness World Record attempt.
There was a countdown to the last minute by the cheerful crowd, and at exactly 11:12 a.m., 227 hours were recorded.
The Northern Military Band played the National Anthem to bring official closure to the event.
Chef Failatu was whisked away by the team to avoid the large, impatient crowd waiting to catch a glimpse of her.
The people cheered, clapped, and drummed as she was escorted away.
The final day has attracted people both near and far to the Modern City Hotel. People have abandoned their jobs and businesses, indicating that today is an epic day for anyone to miss.
Executive Chef Failatu is believed to have cooked about 154 dishes in a span of 227 hours in the 10-day cooking marathon.
The closing event attracted people both far and near.
Various traditional and opinion leaders from different traditional areas were fully represented to congratulate Chef Failatu for her endurance and heroic achievement.
The Mayor of Tamale, Sule Salifu, graced the occasion with other dignitaries.
Executive Chef Failatu is expected to give a statement this evening at an after-party event.
